Fresh from celebrating South Africa’s victory in the enthralling Rugby World Cup, and with Cape Town recently voted best city in the world for the seventh consecutive year according to Telegraph Travel Awards, the city is gearing up to another sizzling summer season and welcoming even more international travelers to one of the world’s most beautiful and famous cities. With a number of signature new boutique properties on the scene, we asked Mandi Johnson-Aliverti, our Managing Director at Travel Concepts, to open her little black book and share her hottest list of new places to stay.

“With personality, exclusivity, design and service standards as key ingredients, the following properties are perfect for leisure travelers, small groups or intimate corporate incentives,” says Mandi.

Camissa House

This freshly opened stablemate to it’s big sister, MannaBay, Camissa House plays host to guests seeking a personal, intuitive stay in the Mother City’s exclusive suburb of Oranjezicht. With only eight sumptuous rooms, we love this inner-city bolt hole for its effortless style and thoughtful features. Suburban boredom banished; this is local living at its best but with luxury touches and scenery to die for. Mandi says, “Resting at the foot of Table Mountain itself, Camissa House is something special. Don’t miss a sundowner at the delightful rooftop bar. Garnished with endless views stretching over the city and Table Bay towards the purple-headed Hottentots Holland mountains on the horizon, this is the stuff of dreams.”

Boasting but six charming, spacious Signature Suites and the aptly named presidential apartment, the Governor Suite (all 310 square meters of it!) This 17th-century all-suite gem is a heartbeat away from the action of Long street, the food scene of Bree street and has really captivated our imagination. Culture vultures will be spoilt for choice; First Thursdays, art galleries, music venues, fine dining and design. “I adore visiting Labotessa! The Marly

Location, location, location! Glamourous and charming, The Marly holds pride of place on Camps Bay’s ‘Golden Mile’, opposite one of our country’s most beautiful beaches. It is no secret that this ravishing party-girl is undergoing a little ‘nip-tuck’ operation. Re-opening in December 2019, we look forward to the big reveal. Each of the thirty-seven gorgeous suites spill out onto a generous balcony offering enchanting views of the Atlantic Seaboard. Marly’s exclusive rooftop bar proffers spectacular sunset views, lounging and cool vibes. Their expertly mixed cocktails are as memorable as the vistas. Mandi says, “Glowing with touched-up glamour ahead of the season The Marly is an exceptional place to enjoy shimmering sun-kissed days.

Tintswalo Atlantic

Literally rising from the phoenix and one of of our all-time favourite Cape Town properties to book, is this dreamy ocean-facing exclusive resort on Chapman’s Peak drive, Table Mountain National Park. Recently scooping the coveted Condé Nast Johansens Award List top 50 it begs belief that it was struck down by a devastating fire earlier this year. Owner-run by the indomitable Lisa Goosen and her family we believe it is a perfect luxury hideaway within striking distance of Cape Town’s famous attractions. Each of the twelve individually decorated suites, including a two-bedroomed family suite, exudes romance and effervescent chic utterly unique to this seaside retreat. The understated interiors do not compete with the breathtaking natural setting. The refreshed property now offers a beautiful wine cellar featuring some of South Africa’s most excellent wines. Mandi says, “Champagne air and a mood to match! Tintswalo Atlantic is my go-to for my most discerning travelers seeking a one-of-a-kind stay in Cape Town. And, newly opened baby sister, Tintswalo at Boulders (our famous penguin beach) is firmly on our watch list. She promises to be a wonderful base for Simon’s Town weddings and events at Tintswalo Group’s newly acquired venue nearby. Watch this space!’
