Captivating Namibia | 14 – 25 May 2020

We’re returning to Namibia due to popular demand! Few countries can match Namibia’s sheer natural beauty. The country’s namesake, the Namib desert, is the world’s oldest. A land defined by the forces of sand and sea it the epitome of resilience. This country of contrasts encompasses seemingly dead valleys, the treacherous Skeleton Coast, the vastness of Damaraland, the jaw-dropping Fish River Canyon, ephemeral rivers, wetland oases and the endless gold-grass plains of the Kalahari. It’s challenging to think of an iconic African landscape that Namibia doesn’t possess.

From the capital city of Windhoek our expedition is marked by summiting Spreetshoogte Pass, one of the steepest passes in Southern Africa on route to our home in the Namib Desert for the next few days. From here, we explore the highlights of Sossusvlei, Dead Pan, Hidden Vlei, Dune 45 and Sesriem Gorge. Time for the coast! Swakopmund’s ocean breeze brings with it welcome opportunities to discover the historical sites that litter the Skeleton Coast. A visit to Walvis Bay offers a chance to learn more about the abundant birdlife of the area including flamingos, pelicans and Damara terns. We also pay a visit to the Cape Cross Seal Colony. Dolphins and whales inhabit the cold waters of the Atlantic Ocean and spotting them from the beach is a favourite pastime on tour. Damaraland’s highlights are next up – lichen fields and outlandish rock formations will stretch the bounds of our imagination of this moonscape. Etosha National Park is our final destination on this journey and holds boundless opportunities to encounter the spectacular wildlife endemic to this area. Oryx, ostrich, African elephant, zebras and lions. Etosha is a photographer’s dream; capture the drama of the action as the animals converge around the sun-bleached waterholes. We return to Windhoek to regroup, wash the dust off and shake the sand out of our shoes before returning home. We suspect a few grains of fine Namib sand will find their way back with you, as will many priceless memories of this ancient land.

We look forward to connecting with you over these experiences.  Contact us to book a spot on your exclusive tour today.
