Our Favourite Wine of the month
Pinot Noir 2007, Shannon Vineyards, Elgin, Western Cape
Sat down with slow roasted duck for Christmas dinner, the choice of wine in the Holt household was Pinot Noir, so for this special occasion our MD Richard pushed the boat out and opened a bottle of the best. From the small family winery in the beautiful Elgin Valley, wine maker James Downes has carved out a worldwide reputation for his Pinot Noir grapes and we think his wine is simply outstanding. Meticulous and passionate about his wine making, a tour of Shannon vineyards with James aboard his Quad bike is well worth it, not least to also taste his latest release - the Mount Bullet Merlot.
